I know they don't really do anything but he was so pleased when he came out of school. I was a bit wary incase he had decided he wanted to be Joseph but hadn't been picked. I asked if he needed a costume and they have one for him.
He's been practising his songs like mad. DH unfortunately has suggested either whirling baby Jesus round his head or drop kicking him up the assembly hall.

according to dd no one else is in it but her

Mine is a king, massive promotion on previous years (PTA has nothing to do with that of course......)

Course never count your chickens- good mate at home was Mum of Mary- turned up on day to find that Mary had no lines whatsoever, only featured in about 3 minutes and if she hadn't dropped Jesus would have gone completely unnoticed.... (though the dropping was indeed the high point LOL)

These Infant school plays can have some odd scripts

I am hideously jealous. Not that I wanted to be Joseph. I wanted to be Mary but it was always a blond girl . Then with dd1 she was never Mary cos she is dark haired and still, 20 years on, Mary was always a blond girl!
dd2 is ginger so no chance there.
But congrats on your little Joseph. Whirling baby Jesus around is par for the course methinks

Peachy · 24/11/2007 18:29

I always got to be narrator, wearing a crap crepe apper tabard.

Bloody downside of being an early reader.

Which of course is all my Mum's fault

lullabyloo · 24/11/2007 18:32

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
ds is a donkey
he thinks the whole play revolves around him & wont stop dancing & eeeeawwwing
he is wearing his donkey suit like a second skin....even to the supermarket
oh well...at least he's not a lobster

DD1 is blond and would make a gorgeous Mary. And she has a best friend who is a blond, blued eyed boy. They would be so perfect together ..........

She wants to be a sheep, more than anything in the world. I wish there was an emoticon for rolling eyes to heaven.

Apparently her class is the choir. Again

DrSpeckschwarteSurprise · 24/11/2007 20:59

Smithagain
DD was a sheep one year in her kindergarten play, last year she was promoted to a star. I have big hopes for this year.

Where do I find the number of a theatrical agent?

neverfree · 25/11/2007 10:03

Never figured out why Mary is always blond. Being from the middle east she would have been dark haired and dark eyed.
mind you, if they went for realism then dd2 wouold still never get to be Mary. ho hum.
I have no idea if dd2's school is doing a nativity. No letters yet. She's going to mainstream in January (she's at SN at the mo) so have a whole year to campaign for a ginger wheelchair-user Mary. Uber-PC
Mind you, then I'd have to sit through another play.....

made the nativity set with the boys today (yeah yeah I know premature but wanted Dh to get some rest without them charging about screaming as he's working tonight, well if they come get him anyway) and noticed that the Kings had been very conscientiously manufactured in 'Black', 'White' and 'Oriental' (which in this kit was banana yellow- not a skin tone I'm familiar with LOL)

But Jesus, Mary and Joseph were all white

Toyed with the idea of a felt pen but figured that would be OT LOL!

At least jesus had been provided without eyes so it tickeed the SN box

jellybrain · 26/11/2007 23:51

Ds 2 was joseph 3 years ago in reception. Picked his nose through out the whole thing... I think he was bit bored!

LyraSilvertongue · 26/11/2007 23:52

DS1 is Joseph too. I'm so pleased because I was never cast as anything in the nativity when I was his age.
