Hi
My daughter just received her P1 school report and she had all A early year levels, but on reading and Numeracy appears not early year level but level 1 and she had P in Numeracy and W reading.... Is this good, bad or average. (I dont have any knowledge on either scotish or English educational system)

Have they given you a key to tell you what the letters mean?

If you are in Scotland maybe post on the Scotsnet board too

At the end of primary 1 she should be achieving Early Level. First level is after early level and is for p2 to p4 for most children. So if she's working at first level for any subjects she's doing well.

I don't understand what your A P and W mean though. Is there a key?

Our school sent an email on the day they were sent home with a key of what it all meant. If you didn’t get one maybe ask the school/

I don’t know what P is but I think A is “achieved” and W is “working within”. So most children will “achieve” early level by the end of p1 and “first level” by end p4.

Yes W is working in the level and P is progressing in the level.... I just don't understand the difference between early and level one...

Early level is up to P1 and Level 1 is P2-P4 so they are doing well with reading and numeracy
