What assessments are year 4 doing at the moment? I understood the timestable check but DD is saying they are also doing other Maths and English.

I was under the impression the TT check is the only official one (and this year it was opt in for schools? Ours is doing it.)

Other assessments will be school driven. Ours has an assessment week each year (already happened for my yr 4) but parents dont hear about this only the kids coming home saying "we did a maths test/reading booklet" . I would imagine it would inform reports if they are coming out and child's progress etc.

The multiplication check is optional again this year.
All schools assess children's progress regularly, and certainly towards the end of the the year. Most will use tests as part of that assessment.
The tests your Y4 child is doing might be made by the school or MAT, but are more likely to be standardized tests to give a view of their standards against national 'norms'. So NfER tests, PIRA or PuMA, Rising Stars...
