School governor interview

I am going to be interviewing soon for a school governor position at a local primary school and I wonder if anyone can offer me some guidance on what might be asked, and in turn, what I should be asking the school? I'd be grateful to hear from anyone who has gone through this process before. Thank you.

A few pointers-
Do lots of reading about the ethos and values of the school- do they align with your values? Talk about some of them in the interview and why you think you would be the ideal person to support and grow the school.
Read Keeping Children Safe in Education- vital. Safeguarding is the most important topic in schools!
Is the school an academy or state maintained? If academy, have a browse at the academies financial handbook, particularly gov responsibilities - if state, look on the local authority website.
Look at Governor job descriptions so you are well informed about the role.
Ask (or look up on website) what committees they have- which would you like to sit on- where are your skills best suited? The core committees are usually education and Business, there may be a separate risk & audit com or this could be combined with business.
Ask about other governors- which members of SLT sit on the board? How many govs are parent governors, what are the strengths and weaknesses of the board? If they have info about the background of govs on the website, have a look and see if they seem to be missing anything- can you offer something they don’t have?
That’s everything I can think of for now, feel free to PM if you wanted any more info. Good luck, it’s a very fulfilling role but can be quite demanding!
