Screening

I've had a message from the school about vision, height and weight screening for my reception aged child. I'm worried they will flag him up as being overweight. I don't actually think he is and he doesn't overeat but he was born at the top of the centiles and has always really stayed there. He doesn't look overweight when naked but is stocky and broad. He is an outpatient for a heart condition and his weight and height are checked every 6 months when he goes to the hospital and they have never flagged anything up but not sure they would.. do they measure based on bmi? Has anyone had their child flagged up as overweight?

Even if they flag something up, nothing happens.

Why don’t you measure and weigh him yourself, then at least you’ll be prepared for what it will say. They do use BMI yes and you can work it out yourself using the calculator on the NHS website.
