Wimbledon Common prep vs Hampton prep

Hi, our son got offer from try on both. Why my research says the WCPS is part of Kings College School but kids have to sit fit assessment & roughly 30-40% go to kcS... however fit Hampton prep they have a way of pushing their prep kids to Hampton Junior without assessment . So we are confused which to choose ? Also kings is 3rd on GCSE league table (CoEd, boarding & Boys combined) where as Hampton is 12th

Any advise ?

Well done on starting the new thread!
The biggest difference between KCS and Hampton is that KCS offers IB and has girls in the 6th form. You can't really use this information to make a decisions for your ds at such a young age. As I said before for your whole family you should focus on a family home and journey time.

Both senior schools are incredibly competitive schools to get into (KGS especially). You are working on an assumption that you get to pick, you won’t unless your son is naturally the top 0.01%.

Both are excellent school for boys with Hampton being very well renown for sports, 12th in the league table is still amazing.

On WCPS we decided against this having been offered a place, purely because we just made a conscious decision to place him in an 11 plus school (I just didn’t want to go through the 7 plus not knowing if the right school. This being said there are many draw backs also to the 11 plus.

Good luck in your search, remember you are looking for a school where your son will thrive (not just academics).also don’t be afraid to phone the registrars and ask these questions, they are very helpful.

It's all about fit.
Kings and Hampton are very different schools with very different feel and a very different parent base.

I prefer Hampton, but that's just me.
Both are academically stellar. The difference between 10 places on the school league tables is one or two boys having an off-day at the exams. Your boy - if he's capable - will emerge with exactly the same grades from both.
Is the school a good fit for your boy. Don't go on rumour (Hampton's sporty reputation didn't phase our second boy, whose idea of sport is Minecraft) - speak to the parents who are there now.
Beware of the parents whose boy didn't get in who have convinced themselves they dodged a bullet by sending him to their second choice.
