Does anyone know what the feeder schools are for St'Peters Catholic primary school in Winchester? Preferably Catholic schools in and around the surrounding villages?

It doesn't have feeder official nurseries - very very few schools will, as it's hard to square with the admissions code.

the admissions policy is here

Or sorry, do you mean secondaries it feeds into?? That makes more sense :-)

It appears only to be linked to Kings School.

Thanks Patricia, sorry I wasn't very clear in my message with regards to the feeder schools (I wrote the post while breastfeeding in the middle of the night :) .

That really helps - I've googled Kings School. It's not a Catholic school but is getting really good reviews. I'm assuming a lot of the kids from St'Peters go here so that's a plus?

No problem, I should have realised that was what you meant! Understandably you were distracted ;-)

Catchment children and siblings even out of catchment come above linked schools in the criteria, but even so - this year 26 children got in under the Linked criteria, and then 65 on the next criteria, which suggests that all those at linked schools who applied under that criteria got a place.

I see, that's good to know. Would you have any recommendations on areas to buy beside Winchester or villages surrounding it? I had a look at New Alresford and it was lovely.

Kings' School is very popular and its linked status to St Peter's means that lots of families who are outside its catchment geographically lose their thirst for a Catholic school in year 6. St Peters (and other linked primaries) have priority over all other out of catchment children for Kings' (although they are still behind catchment sibs, catchment other kids and out of catchment sibs) If you want a Catholic secondary, the nearest are St Anne's (girls) and St George's (mixed) in Southampton. Most St Peter's children go on to the very secular Kings' School.

Thanks Lemonsole

The other Catholic school in the area is Alton School, which is independent.

Possibly better than some in Southampton if you were going to live in a village to the east of Winchester. All the primary schools in that direction are good.
