Late applications for reception?

So I applied for my sons primary school place late as I genuinely had no idea he was going to school this year I thought they start when they're 5! I applied 4 days after application deadline so it was classed as a late confirmation, I have absolutely no idea when I'm going to find out his place :(

If you are classed as a late application, you will have to wait till the initial place allocation has taken place, followed by a period of time 2 to 3 weeks when the LA is recording who has accepted the place offer and who has declined. The LA will also draw up the waiting list in terms of admission order criteria and then start allocating places to those at the top of the waiting list.
Expect to wait 2 to 3 weeks and then you should be able to ask the LA where you are on the waiting lists for your preferred schools. Hopefully the LA will contact you, offering you a place at one of your preferred schools before you speak to them.

Oh dear!
Might not be an issue, it depends if the local schools/your preferred choices are over subscribed.
If they aren't, you should get whichever you prefer, regardless of applying late.
