PGCE/Teaching Degree and Dyslexia training

Hi. I'm preparing a presentation for my school about dyslexia (I'm in my final term of training to become a specialist dyslexia tutor) and I was wondering if teachers could tell me if your teaching degree or PGCE gave you any training on how to recognise and teach children with dyslexia.

I've looked through a few teaching courses and can't see much detail so thought I'd get some information directly from teachers! Please would you mind letting me know if you were given any training on dyslexia at all and what year you trained to be a teacher.

Many thanks
Madeleine

I finished my BA in 2006 and got zero training on it.

Finished in 2003 and it was never mentioned. Indeed I think we had a 2 hour lecture on special needs ( ALL special needs !) and that was it!

I finished in 2013 and received very little training on dyslexia. Schools don't have the training or resources to do enough IMO. I teach reception and have picked up bits here and there. Trying to get a referral for a child for a diagnosis seems near impossible these days.
