Hello! My daughter has just been offered a place in year 3 at Channing and I would love to get in touch with parents who have girls in the junior school to have some feedback.
Because of the covid I could not visit the school so it’s difficult to know what to expect.
I am worried especially about whether the school has any process in place to help new girls settling in? Any other information good or bad would be helpful too. Thank you!

What do you mean by woke direction?

There’s talk of decolonising the curriculum etc. It’s all a bit misguided. There have been assemblies about white privilege. I don’t know whether most parents care. My daughter finished there last year.
I hear the new head is good, and sensible, but I think the SLT was already on the woke path.

My daughter attends Channing and it is a really lovely environment for girls. I would say year 3 is a good time to join as they are in class groups from reception to year 2 and then mix in year 3. The school also has a buddy system which will be helpful and the school and PTA make a big effort to integrate newcomers.
There is a very positive atmosphere at Channing but the only negative I would draw your attention to is the class sizes which are very big I feel, at 24 per class.

Upper school lovely - friends DD very happy there.

Used to work there and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t miss some aspect of it. DD will settle quickly, the teachers are very kind and nurturing. How lucky she is to be going. We relocated and I so miss all my colleagues, wonderful children not to mention the view!! Good Luck.

@Beachcomber74 thank you so much, also for taking the time to write. I really needed to hear this. Can I just ask you if the junior school has a buddy system? I know the senior school does but not sure about the junior school..
