Fulham State Primary or Private?

We have just brought a house in Fulham right by SouthPark. Catchment for primary schools is rubbish. We would probably get into Sullivan.. but I've heard bad things. I guess we would also apply to Langford and Thomas' Academy.
What's the deal with primary schools in Fulham? The good, bad and the ugly please!
We have the option to go private but it just seems like a lot of money and I don't know if it's worth it?!
Help!

Oh and we aren't church goers so can just automatically discount any faith schools straight away Envy

No advice as such (sorry)but we are in the same position, in north Fulham and find ourselves in a ‘black hole’ for admissions to outstanding primary schools. We are debating about whether to go private or to send to state schooo until 7 and then transfer to a prep.

@Nothing77 yes that's what we are debating too... it seems there is zero choice when it comes to schools! I'm not sure about trying to get into a nursery attached to a good school and then going from there...

Have you tried St John's ? That's a good one. Otherwise I'd go private if you can.

We aren't in the catchment for St John's. We are by South Park.
I think we could try Holy Cross but again we are not church goers, although son has been baptised.

If it’s any comfort op, I have heard anecdotally that there is a lot of movement in Fulham (people moving out) this year due to Brexit and Covid. Certainly we have managed to get a place for our son in the bilingual stream at holy cross this year (via french school route) which is apparently unheard of in recent years...not sure if we will accept but will be looking to name choices after the places are allocated initially in April.

My son attends one of the other schools linked to Sullivan in their academy chain. He has therefore been to Sullivan for class swaps (pre covid), key worker school schemes etc and he has always loved it. Huge grounds and he says the staff are lovely. Although the uniform colour is grim!
Don't forget that "outstanding" schools may not have been inspected for many years and standards do change. An outstanding school in Hammersmith hasn't been inspected for 14 years. Some of the "good" schools are amazing
