Many schools run catchment areas and Local Authorities will expect you to be living in their area or you will be considered a late applicant. You can apply but you will be behind all the other “in area” applicants. This might not matter too much if the schools are not full.

If you are living in the area by the time you need to apply, you must work out which schools you want to apply to based on a range of factors. The local authority will provide full information on their web site and this is the best place to start looking for information and timelines.
