Hello, I was wondering if anyone could give advice on Blackheath prep. I read the 2019 inspection report and am worried about sending my daughter there. ( health and safety, bullying and no extension of teaching from year 1 to 4) It seemed like a really good school when I went to visit. Any info much appreciated!

I know people who have children at the school and they all seem happy with it, but I can't offer more than that as am not in the area.

I know parents who are very happy with the school, and parents who complain about bullying/not great 11+ results. I'm sure the perspective will vary depending on who you ask. Do you have any other options you are considering?

Thank you for your messages. We thought of Colfer and Alleyns. We would like somewhere that can give our daughter the chance to flourish with different academic options whilst ensuring there is no bullying . I went to a school which had neither of the two and remember it being hell for everyone .

It was just that when I saw the inspection report for Blackheath Prep, I got a bit worried.

If you like a school, you should go for it - bullying is not a major problem in any independent school and they will make sure it’s fixed quickly. Alleyns is tough to get into - maybe a good idea to get the offers in hand and then pick one based on your instincts/location.

OP if you liked it when you looked around then apply? There are always way more applicants than places so you will need a few options?

There's bullying at every school - it's just how the school deals with it that counts. There's a new head at BP so worth asking the question?

Colfes and Alleyns are 2 other very different choices. At very different ends of the achievement spectrum.

Thank you ChnandlerBong, that's very helpful. We will find some other options too. Bw
