Iam not British, so not very clear how the system works. I was under the impression that the average hard-working child who has supportive parents will get level 4 and level 5. Is that true?

ds2 10yrs,is SN and I have never compared his results with anybody elses. My milestones have been eg, can he read 'Cat in the Hat' Did he understand said book, did he enjoy it (in this case no). His understanding of the English lanuage is so inconsistant it is at the level of a competant forigner. In other words he really does not understand the inticacies of the english lanuage in its day to day usage, so how can he understand the written word. But he is a happy chappy with a distinct bent towards computing so we may be angling towards an NVQ line of learning. But to get back to the original thread (sort of) his school have said that they are putting him through the same exams as his peers, and blow the statistics, because it is better for him to be in the same boat as his peers, that excluded and branded 'different'.

YES please to the nature table! This time of year there is so much that's interesting to display and talk about.

My son was seriously put off science in his last year at state primary. Now he's in a school with proper labs and specialist teachers he seems more interested.
