When did you know your DC was clever enough to have a chance at getting in to a top prep school?

Did you know from age 3/4 or did it become clear later than that? And how did you know?

I’m asking because I have a DC who is Reception age.

During the 4 to 5 years stage. It was clear he was sporty from the very start. As we left nursery we were informed by his teachers about his advanced reading level and then at reception towards the 2nd half of the academic year, the teacher couldn't stop gushing about his maths skills.

When he is around 1 year old, we agreed we want to send him to private schools, then talked to nursery about our plan and asked for their support. Now he got an offer from Hereward House
