There seems to have been a lot of head teachers moving around. I think this can only be a good thing, hoping that it raises standards across the schools.

How do you see it shaking out? Is there going to be an actual single-sex middle ground with the gap between CLSG and SHHS being closed by the non-selective schools like Cavendish and QCPS?

QCPS will be slowly turning selective. They are introducing 'assessments' at 4+ from September 2021. From what I can gather, the QCPS and QCL heads are trying to raise the academic profile of the school - it will take some time, but I anticipate that the academic gap will close gradually - definitely in regard to QCPS/ QCL.

Interesting - I did not know that about assessment at 4+ at QCPS.

I don’t know much about QCL at all - when you say that the academic gap will close, do you mean between QCPS and QCL or between QCPS and QCL and other schools? How’s QCPS/QCL perceived right now?

I meant between QCPS/QCL and other schools. They introduced a new 7+ exam this year also. Up until this point, apparently the girls at QCPS did not get automatic entry into QCL (they had to take an assessment), so by making the prep school a little more competitive, they will offering automatic entry going forward (a 'through' school I guess).

I don't know a huge amount about QCL either (although some good friends daughters go there and absolutely love it). Apparently they are outstanding at pastoral care and the head (since 2017) is fantastic. The academic results have been improving year on year since her arrived at the school. The prep school has good results at 11+ also from what I can see.
