7+ Zoom Interview

Just wondering has anyone's DC done a 7+ zoom interview yet and if so how do you prepare for this? They have said he needs a pen and paper for doing some writing tasks, but just wondering how much writing could you be expected to do in a 30 minute interview?
I guess any tips would be useful as it's a whole new world and having to do an interview at this age on zoom is a bit harsh (but no choice I guess).
Also, do you think if your interview is later in the day/a few days later it reflects where you are in terms of the "list"?

@anomum123 are you applying to any schools in south London? We have 3, 7+ interviews this week. Getting stressed about it a bit as not really sure what to expect. We took a punt and got a tutor for a one off mock. They seem to think it will be short reading and comprehension and some mental maths. Guide was 2 good paragraphs in 15 mins. Half page A4.

I am not sure about interviews and the list.. I think also down to teaching staff and assessor availability.. at least i hope not as we have one very late in the day end of this week! Which is a shame as DS is so much better in the morning.

Ps I agree it’s harsh to do a zoom interview at 7! I’ve run some adult interviews myself this year and they are hard to do. Let alone being given mental maths on the spot. I doubt I would pass! Wink

Yes south London schools. Good info thanks, I hadn't considered they might actually get them to write that much....yikes guess I really should do some prep then :-(

BUT quality over quantity.. don’t be put off by the amount it’s a very rough estimate. We are just drumming home the literacy rules.. best handwriting, punctuation, openers and try (please DS) to get a simile in there or something. But it’s
So much pressure.. I’ll probably won’t look at what he actually writes until we have the results in our hands!!

@DirtyDancing how did your DS do, mine tried his hardest but from listening at the door I think he made some silly mistakes as he was nervous. Also made the mistake of looking at what he wrote both times and definitely wasn’t impressed. I hate all this waiting. I guess we will know next Friday one way or the other!
