Confused over moving to different council after deadline

Hello! Wondering if anyone might be able to help. We are moving very shortly not too far but its a different council. We are due to exchange/complete in Feb. We are applying for lo to start school in Sep 21.

We were told to apply via our current council, note the move on the form and put the schools we want at the new address. We would then update them of the address change in Feb and if you do it by 5 march they consider it as part of the allocation.

The council we are moving to has similar guidance but their date is 12 Feb. How would it work, would I need to have updated the address by the date of the new council we move to, or the current one we applied under? I was advised "just go by the dates of the council you apply with" but just freaking out as to whether this is right!

Any advice hugely appreciated.

It's impossible to say without knowing which councils you're talking about, to be honest. And even then it sounds like your best bet is to call the school admissions office at the new council and ask them directly. The only authoritative answer you are going to get will be from them.

Given that the council you are moving to says the cut off date for address changes is 12th February that is likely to be the date that matters. However, I agree with the previous poster. You should talk to them. Make sure you get an answer in writing. If you can't get it in writing any other way, email them after you've spoken to them setting out your understanding of the conversation. That will give you evidence in case they do something different to what they've told you.
