We decided we do not want to send our DC there.
Are you inclined to accept the offer?
What other offers do you have?

Mumchumof2 · 11/01/2021 23:30

@Geekyparent did you decline already? Do you mind sharing your reasons? We’re not sure, and deadline is on Friday. Confused

Ultimately, this is about what school would suit best to you DC personality and needs, and also how it would work with your family life.
Also it depends on what other choices you have and whether there are siblings to consider.

RainbowBabyMum · 12/01/2021 00:24

Oh. We are on a waiting list. May I ask why you are not sure? Do you have another offers?

Mumchumof2 · 12/01/2021 11:22

Hi @RainbowBabyMum, yes we have another place. But we never really got the chance (as with so many families) to send our DC and experience the school. We have another DS who is at another prep school and is hoping to sit the 11+ next year.
We really liked the visit/ tour, the head. Though would be good to hear what others are thinking,Grin

I am also interested to hear about Hampton Prep - hopefully someone will tell us what it’s like.

Mumchumof2 · 12/01/2021 19:34

@SunnyMountain do you have an offer also?

No, my DS is younger but it’s a school we are considering for when he’s a bit older.

I'm not a prep parent but have a ds at Hampton school who went at 11 and I'm familiar with the preps in the area. It's always difficult choosing a feeder prep if you aren't sure about your ds's abilities or if you want to commit to the senior school. Hampton prep has the unique scheme of indicating if your ds will be offered an assured place, it's whether you want your ds in a class where these decision are made or if you want your ds in a prep like The Mall or Kings House where everyone is in the same boat and you have the option of Tiffin etc at 11.
If you are at a different prep that finishes at age 11 you also have the option of Hampton 10 plus. I would ask the registrar about the other schools that the ds go to age 11 apart from Hampton school - ie Reeds, KGS, st George's.

Thanks @Singingrain1223
After some thought and discussions we’ve accepted! Grin

Best of luck @Mumchumof2 to both your ds, Hampton School is great for the right child and by being at Hampton Prep you will be steered in the right direction for your ds plus you never hear a bad word about the prep.

@Singingrain1223 Thankyou xx

Hi @Geekyparent, @Mumchumof2 and @RainbowBabyMum, we are going to have a look at Hampton for our 6 year old and have put him down to do the 7+ assessment.

He's at a state school, summer born, but doing pretty well.

Wonder if you'd be so kind as to offer any advice as to the sort of test / interview questions etc.

Thank you :-)

Bump bump

Candyfloss2 · 15/10/2022 05:46

Just saw another thread saying both parents working in Hampton prep but kid didn’t get into Hampton .

poordrygarden · 15/10/2022 11:05

@Candyfloss2
Oh gosh, I can imagine that would have been a real blow.

I haven't seen any messages about Hampton, or RGS which is the other school we like, I see mostly London focus which is understandable.

Is your son going to go to the assessment day? Is he going to any others?

We are still a bit in two minds, our son is so happy at his current school.
