Hello , I am new to Mumsnet. My DD will start reception in Sept 2022. She is fluent in three languages ( I am Chinese and DH is French). We are interested in sending DD to La Fontaine so she can get more exposure to French. We want to hear opinions about the school from parents who have kids there, especially those who are native French speakers. Are 50% of the school curriculum in French ? How many students are native French speakers ?

We are looking for our forever home at the moment. We were initially looking for houses in Sutton, attracted by its good State schools and grammars. Good schools is one of the major considerations in our house search. We are happy to move near La Fontaine for DD to study there if it's the school that is going to benefit her the most. What's the catchment like for La Fontaine ? Does Chatterton Village fall within the catchment or should we try to move even closer ?

Your thoughts are much appreciated .

Thanks

I would check with the school that you are correct that French is spoken as much as you think.

My understanding is that although that was the initial aim when the school was set up , due to the shortage of school places locally, the school has become a lot more mainstream and, other than French itself, lessons are taught in English.

I would certainly check this out.
