Hi, we are moving back to Winchester after Easter having been abroad for a few years. We will have a 5 year old who we will need to make a mid year application for (year1) and a 4 year old who will be starting reception in September. We are in a really tricky situation as we need to make the year R application by the end of next week, but can't apply for my older child until a few weeks before we move. Our house is in catchment for St Bede's and Westgate (St Bedes would be just about walkable but Westgate would mean driving) so I'm sure we'd get a place for the younger one at one of those, but I get the impression it is unlikely we'd get our older child into either straight away and would have to send him elsewhere while we wait for a place.
Just wondering if anyone has had a similar situation and know which schools may be more likely to have mid year places available? I heard Western might, in which case Westgate might seem a better option for our younger child as they are near each other. Or has anyone navigated having two children at different schools! How did it work out? Also any experiences of either school would be great as we obviously couldn't visit to look round!
Any insight would be really helpful thanks.
