St Christopher the Hall/Bromley High

We are currently considering private primary schools around Beckenham and Bromley for our DD for 2021 intake. We have been thoroughly impressed by St Christopher the Hall, and Bromley High Juniors.
I would be very grateful for any comments from current/past parents and their thoughts on the schools, including pastoral, curriculum, pupil happiness, and extra curriculum activities. Also how they have felt they have handled the last year with all the Covid challenges?
Many thanks

Thanks so much for the feedback. This is concerning as we really liked look of St c and been impressed on the visit pre covid but alas if they're not managing to keep up with remote learning and this type of blended learning is certainly going to be like this for a while then it's disappointing they've not managed to keep with the pace. It feels as though its a lovely traditional school which hasn't quite kept up with the changing times over the past few years then.

Bromley High is part of the GDST which helps them in situations like this. They gain from a more centralised approach and decision making.

I have friends with children at both schools. The experience of SCTH has been that boys who are good at rugby are openly very highly praised and valued, by the sports teacher and by the head. It has led to other boys feeling very much second best.

Thanks all for these comments. Really constructive and useful. Welltidy you said you have friends with kids at both schools, what is their experience of Bromley High Junior school?

They’re really happy with BHJS. Their daughter will sit for the Bexley 11+ but they’d be happy to keep her at BH senior school if she doesn’t pass. She’s been there since reception. They find that the parents are very sociable and they go out together a couple of times a year (not this year obviously) for nights out and they’ve done camping trips as a large group too.

Thank you so much for all your comments. Much of what you are saying about SCTH concurs with what we had already heard. Such a shame that they are struggling to keep up with others. Think we are decided on Bromley then which was our first choice but this has just helped to reaffirm.

We have a son too and ideally would like him to go to Bickley Park Prep in a few years as heard good things about it. Any comments gratefully received!

Parents with one boy and one girl often choose Bickley Park Prep and Bromley High. The drop off times are set so that you can get from one to the other and not be late in dropping off one child. They also co-ordinate holidays. So they are good together. We have friends with a son at Bickley Park Prep and they're happy with it.

@Mcbromleymum sorry to jump on an old thread. Just wanted to know how are you finding bromley high junior for DD and did your DS end up going to Bickley Park? We are in exact similar situation and just want to know unbiased thoughts about both schools esp for primary education? Academics wise and everything else! TIA!
