Essex school closures

So now the government has done a U turn on London schools why are some tier 4 areas in Essex still expected to open up?!
According to the BBC it’s due to the pressure the local councils were exerting, but apparently Essex county council aren’t pushing for more closures. It seems like some people are worthy of being kept safe and others aren’t!

I know. We live in one of the Essex areas still opening on Monday. We have a year 6 child. The year 6 FB page is alight with conversation about it. I am struggling to comprehend how the the rest of us are expected to stay home and see no one, but he’s expected to go and mix with 30-60 other households each day.

Realistically I can only see schools being open for a couple of weeks until they are forced to shut due to staff shortages or very high transmission among pupils. Before this new strain my school was coping well with very few cases but I can’t see that being the case come January.

Yes, we hadn’t had any bubbles burst at ours either, but looking at the numbers in the local area, nit sure that will be the case this term. The school have been amazing & I do trust them, but also, I run a public venue & I know, it’s not possible to be COVID safe/secure, you can really only be COVID conscious.

Very true, the idea of schools being Covid secure is laughable! We try our best but just like with any other virus it will spread in schools if large groups of children are together.

We’re closed Monday and Tuesday now - let’s see what happens then.
