Feedback on handwriting please

Can I have some feedback on my DS’s handwriting, please? He’s in Y1, early September birthday so the oldest in his class. I don’t know, maybe it’s because of his age the school expect him to produce better work or maybe the teacher is just being extra?
In my humble opinion there is absolutely nothing wrong with it but the issue seems to come up every time we get feedback from his teacher (parents’ eve, reports etc) as he keeps telling us more work needs to be done at home (DS not keen on the idea and I do admit that we don’t practice as much as we should)
I do realise that the work DS produces at home might be slightly better (no distractions, 1:1 attention) but I saw his school workbook and it’s of a similar standard. Should a six year old really be writing better than this? (The last word in each line is from memory so it’s not the spelling that is an issue)

@midnightstar66 No, Ds is year 1 now (although ridiculously, his handwriting was even better than that at the end of reception after we’d been doing it every day during lockdown. We didn’t practice as much during summer and he changed the way he formed his letters!)

@TheYearOfSmallThings That drawing is amazing! So fun!

I'm a year 1 teacher and I think his handwriting is great!

DD is the same age (Sept born & in Y1) - they aren't even doing cursive writing yet! That's not till Y2. They are focusing on letter formation & spelling.
For comparison DD wrote this yesterday.

@APurpleSquirrel is this from a 7 year old girl who is doing year 1?

Temperance15 · 01/01/2021 17:26

I meant, amazing handwriting well done! And composition too.

I've had this with my 10 year old. Her writing looks really good to me. Suddenly they approved of it when she stopped having her own style (curly and artistic looking). So I wonder if they just want all the kids to have the same handwriting Sad

@Temperance15 - DD is 6 & in Y1 (Sept born). She loves writing but hasn't started cursive. She's tried a few times but it's not very legible. Her spelling is coming on really well & she's very imaginative.

@APurpleSquirrel plus she writes on a reasonably straight line, letters are same size, developing a style of handwriting, etc etc so very very good, congratulations!

Better than my Year 2 child.
