Hampstead pre-preps (& assessment!)

Hello!

I'd love to get current advice / opinions on the pre-prep schools in Hampstead, as I'm moving there with my partner & 2 year old son in January. I've registered for 2023 admission to Lyndhurst House, UCS, Devonshire House, Hereward House and am considering adding North Bridge on for an extra option.

This is my first kid and I'm worried he won't get in to any, although hopefully this is just my anxiety speaking! He goes to a great Montessori nursery now.

Can any Hampstead parents share their thoughts on the above schools / other pre-preps in the area? And any insights into assessment days would be amazing, too. I've not been able to visit any schools yet because of the cursed 'rona.

Thanks a lot x

We have done the interview for Devonshire House and Hereward House last year and got offer from both places. No need to worry, just be yourself. Lyndhurst is super easy to get, they don't have enough application most of the time, Devonshire House is similar. So it is unlikely for you to have none
Hereward house prefer keen parents
Not sure about UCS, they don't provide lunch, so was not in my list

@KatyRyan Thank you so much.

How odd that UCS don't provide lunch. Can imagine nurseries doing that, but not schools!

I've heard Lyndhurst House is likely to close? Not sure if that's true, but what a shame if so. x

UCS senior provides lunch, just not the junior department doesn't.
I visited Lyndhurst House earlier last year, it is a lovely school, just not that impressive in NW3 area, I do know some parents like it. It would be a shame if they closed

@ButterscotchWhip depending where you are located, have a look at Mulberry House School. Pre-Prep that is feeder school to most of the top schools in London. For nursery there is no assessment and is on a first come, first serve basis.

Yes - I know someone who was absolutely desperate to get her DD in to NLCS. Drove an hour daily (they live nowhere near there) to take her to nursery at Mulberry House. DD is now at NLCS.
