OK daft question, as it is my 2nd DD. BUT what are the levels they are 'supposed' to obtain at various stages??? YOu know like the 3C or 4A etc

I know they have proper ST's in year 2 but I am confused (and rubbish) What are the levels and what is 'average'. I seems to rememebr 3c but cannot rememebr what are/year they are supposed to be in when they reach that level IYKWIM

Roughly speaking, if they are your 'average' child (no such thing) it works like this:
Y1 - 1a
Y2 - 2b
Y3 - 2a/3c
Y4 - 3b
Y5 - 3a/4c
Y6 - 4b

Tests in Y2 are just a small aspect of the assessment these days, usually used just to confirm the teacher assessment, which is the only level reported to the parents now.
