We used to live in Edinburgh but are living in London at present and our daughter is in the Lycée system. She is going to do the assessments for Heriot’s later this month. Is anyone on here familiar with the types of questions they ask? Particularly in the maths paper? The French system tends to be behind English schools in maths (not sure about Scottish schools) eg things not yet taught are x,y axes, algebra, very little fraction work, not a lot of decimal work Our daughter did the tests for Mary Erskine back in Feb and found them straightforward but I expect Heriot’s have a higher bar? Any insight much appreciated! This year the kids are doing them online at home and have to be available 8.30-3.30 - seems long!

Appreciate this post was a while ago but wondered where you ended up moving as I am in a similar situation with Heriots and location to live atm. Thanks!

Hello We still plan to move to Scotland in the summer. Our daughter has an offer to join Year 6(primary 6) for September. She also has an offer for St Leonards in St Andrews. We managed to visit both schools pre Covid. We would be really happy with either school with a slight preference for St Ls because it offers exceptional opportunities for our daughter to maintain her languages and there is also a boarding option should we ever need that sort of resource.

Are you moving to Edinburgh? We spent many years there so would be able to give you some insight(albeit we’ve been out of Scotland for 10years) . Let me know!
