Boys schools NW London

Hi dear mamas,

I was hoping you could share some insight with me re boys schools in NW London (that go from junior to senior).
My DS is in Y3, currently attending a prep school in NW. We have been getting increasingly disappointed with the school over the years and now reached a point where we are seriously considering moving him.

Ideally we'd like a school in the area (Hampstead area), which goes all the way up to senior and will have occasional places for Y4.
He's very good across the board but extremely gifted at maths and other technical subjects. He's very knowledgeable, loves reading and very interested in many topics. Ideally we see him at a school that takes technical subjects very seriously and has good grounds as he enjoys sports.
Other aspects we prefer are good communication with parents, transparency and accessibility (as in feeling comfortable about contacting the school or teachers). We'd like a school that acknowledges good performance and behaviour as much as possible (rather than focusing on the negatives or what improvements can be made).

We are looking at UCS but would consider other schools. I'd love to hear your suggestions and insight from your experience re UCS and other potential schools.

TIA! Flowers

Hi @MissScotland
As a fellow Hampstead mum with three children in different schools.... I would say UCS is great, but tricky entry. Highgate again lovely and amazing sports facilities - but entry at 7+, 11+ and very few occasional places. I would recommend you look at Heathside - amazing school, prep and all through with a central Village location. Non selective, but academic - many UCS 7+ kids, who didn't quite make it at 7+ and need a bit more prep for 11+ entry. UCS recommend Heathside to these families. Sport facilities not on village site - but they have a sports center a short drive away and go to the heath every day. Now owned by Dukes Education and back to being brilliant! I know there reception and year 7 have waiting lists (my neighbor is 4th on the wait list for next years reception!) - but you might get an occasional place. Worth a look/visit!
Good luck :)
