All-day trainers for PE-ready days - any ideas?

Hi All, hope this is the right topic thread.

We're buying new trainers for Y1 DS - in the past we've just gone to supermarket, but because of PE-ready days he's now wearing trainers a minimum 2 full days a week, so we're looking for something with a bit more general foot support. When I was a kid Clarks was the go-to place for kids foot support shoes, but I'm sure things have moved on & there's a bigger choice out there.

Any thoughts/ ideas/ recommendations?

Velcro New Balance ones are good for that age. Leather not suede for wet playground.

Well, they might be plastic stuff, not leather!

My Y2 daughter currently has white Velcro trainers from Clark's. We have got some from John Lewis in the past. Not sure of the brand.

Have a look at Decathlon or SportsShoes and see what is available in the size you need.

Sports Direct will have branded trainers like Nike or Adidas which are designed for comfort/for running around in.

I'd still stay cheapish and cheerful - some genuis has scheduled back to back PE days at my youngest's school and art on the same day. DD came out head to toe (including shoes, socks and toes) in green paint before half term - seriously she looked like Shrek! Even with her PE stuff being supermarket basics stuff I was really rather miffed at the sheer state she'd emerged in (no aprons because Covid apparently).

Ds got some good Nike ones. They are leather with one velcro strap and completely black, in case that's a uniform issue.

Next do really good slip on ones. We've bought them in different colours for both my kids over the past few years. They're really comfy and quick to put in. www3.next.co.uk/g241556s9/873226#873226
