Hi there.

I am just posting to see if any key stage 1 teachers or those in primary education could help me get an idea of what is covered and roughly expected by the end of year 1. Specifically in numeracy and writing.

My 5 year old is doing great with her reading so feel very on track. I want to supplement her learning at home so would like to know what aspects are covered in numeracy in year 1- money? Times tables?

What are the expectations of writing skill?

I can obviously look at the national curriculum but I would like to know what experience individuals have. The national curriculum is broad and can be a big ambiguous.

This is being asked as I am debating whether to ask for a flexible schooling arrangement as the quality of teaching at her current school has been low since reception and due to the broad needs of other children in the class I feel as though my DD will not be reaching her potential when we move to a new area in the next year.

Thanks so much

Search for KS1 Teacher assessment framework. This will give the expected outcomes for the end of y2.

Also take a look at white rose maths - they have overviews of the topics covered. Your school may not cover them in them in this order though.

Thanks for all the info guys. Have spent the day perusing the material and it's exactly what I needed.
