Applying for primary with an IEP from pre school.

Does anyone know if you have to declare this?

I’m thinking of starting the application and wonder if it asks if the child has a IEP?

Basically, our first choice has quite good grades and my MIL scared me and said if we declare the IEP my son may not get it if they don’t want their grades to be affected. Now I know this probably isn’t true but she’s planted the seed of doubt in my mind.

Also, is it better to now mention it so he doesn’t arrive already ‘labelled’ and can let the knew school make their own assessment?

Is it a state school?

Yes all 3 options are state schools

If you fit the entrance criteria and are higher than other applications you will get a place. The school can’t choose to admit or not admit you
The only exceptions as far as I know are if they feel they can’t meet your child’s needs due to severe SN.
If you are not sure that your child will get a place at your preferred school in some cases if backed by medical professionals having SN can help your case (if the school has something he can’t get elsewhere)

It's irrelevant. It cannot be taken into account in application, unless you actually want to use it to try and apply under a social and medical criteria - though it's unlikely to qualify unless the school you want has some specialism relating to his needs.

If you are not intending to apply under this criteria, it's not relevant to the application.

Then yes it's irrelevant and actually will be really helpful for your son's new teacher.
