Tights or Leggings

I have a little girl in Reception. Now the weather is getting colder I want to put her in tights rather than socks. However, I just remember that, with my older daughter, they always went really baggy under the crotch. I'm wondering if black leggings under her dress may be better?

... obviously for school rather than at home! Thanks.

My mum used to put an additional pair of knickers over the top of the tights (super hero style haha) to keep them up when I was little.
Don't send her in leggings it will look a bit daft I think (and maybe against the rules?) plus what would you do about keeping her feet warm. If it was really cold I used to wear two pairs of tights x

Check the rules about leggings.

My DD wears leggings (no skirt) but school have agreed it as it's against policy

mumtotc · 05/10/2020 18:25

Definitely check the policy. If you go down the tights route, make sure she can put them on herself confidently.

My DD hates tights, so she’s in leggings under her dress every day. I never thought to check policy

Check the uniform policy. Ours states no leggings.

Thanks! I've seen some little girls with leggings under dresses and, depending on what they wear on their feet, some can look quite cute (and yes, some can look a little daft)!

Tights definitely

My girl wears leggings, thick socks and DM boots to keep warm. She would spend most of the day trying to pull tights back up!

Is it just that the age of the tight doesn't fit the length of your daughters legs? My DD has very long legs and at age 11 wears 14-15 tights, they don't bag now so buy an age (or two) up?

Some children find tights difficult to wear and cotton leggings better, its a sensory thing so you could raise that with school if appropriate?

DD refuses to wear tights so wears trousers. She would rather wear her summer dress and leggings but I don't think her school would be keen.
