French language equivalent of Biff, Chip & Kipper

I live in Canada and my son is in Grade 1 French Immersion. We have been teaching him to read at home in English with Biff, Chip & Kipper, which he enjoys. I am looking for a French language equivalent to help him as he starts to learn to read French this year (the school will eventually give us a subscription to Je lis, lis litteratie to use, but when we used it last year it was really, really boring and I like to have real books around as well as using screens). I have ordered some Mini Rats de la Bibliotheque, but I'm looking for other options as well.

Any tips gratefully received!

Is j'aime lire still available?

Not sure what grade 1 is? some ideas for children starting to read :

jesuisencp.fr/
www.japprendsalire-magazine.com/
www.jaimelire.com/mes-premiers-j-aime-lire (Easier than J'aime lire which are quite long.)
I love many books from "ecole des loisirs" (maybe collection Moucheron? Collection Mouche might be harder)
All the Catharina Valckx books are absolutely lovely! look them up on amazon
"Nathan poches premieres lectures"

You can probably find batches on ebay?

bonne chance! :)
