Starting Reception

My son is starting school in a few weeks. I am just wondering what will be expected from him? He recognises his name, knows a few sounds and his numbers to 10. I don't know whether I should do doing anything with him to prepare? All the practical things like getting dressed, using the toilet and eating correctly he is fab with so it's just the academics I'm concerned about. I suppose I don't want him to feel like he's struggling already (as I did in school).

What can everyone else's little one do?

Former reception teacher here. Your child sounds more than ready Smilenothing academic is focused on at all in the beginning (or at least it shouldn't be in my opinion/ experience) autumn term is primarily about settling, social skills and independence.
