Has anyone applied for reception class online?

I have just completed dd's reception class application online. Has anyone else applied this way? Is it ok? I'm a bit nervous in case it hasn't got through or it gets deleted before the closing date or something

do you have to let the schools know you have chosen them? i havent and i done mine online.

I did but the website crashed and although the application went through befora the end date they blamed the website and put it through as a late applicant luckily I got it sorted but will always do it the pen and paper way from now on

I have for both junior transfer and reception entry , when ds started we didn't have the option it was a lot easier to do it online as now i know i've done it rather than forgetting as i do with everything else

yes go to your local lea site..

not sure if all leas let you apply online..

Twiglett · 02/10/2007 13:56

unless you're in london and then its a central website but you should be able to reach it through your lea anyway

oh no magnolia! you have got me worried now!

I have just had to take proofs down there but they say they can't check if the online application has been recieved yet

i'm starting to wish i had filled out a paper form now, although i have heard of them getting lost too!

Twiglett, i have only put 1 down too, i don't think there's much point putting others if you already have a child there, unless you are actually willing to send them to seperate schools

HH, Our paper forms go into the school office but I was lazy and did it online When the site crashed they couldn't tell me on the telephone if everything had gone through ok and then sent me a letter the next week saying I had sent it in late!!!
Never again

we're ging to apply online but can't until December. Seems a bit late to me. We wn't find out until April next year.

ChasingSquirrels · 03/10/2007 20:58

I did my ds1's last year online. I then got a confirmation e-mail from them.
Application closind date was early december and places were confirmed end april for start in september.

I did and she got in.
I think you need to put down more than one choice even if you don't want your child to go there as if they don't get their first choice they won't be allocated an alternative. With our LEA if you have a sibling at the school you are high priority but I would check what they say about only one choice. Not good if I recall correctly. The good thing about the online app though is that here you could amend it up until the closing date so might not be a prob Twig. HTH a bit.
