Hi

I am looking to move to Kent early next year and my husband and I liked the look and feel of Tenterden. We have been looking into primary schools for our little boy and wanted to find out what options we would have and what they are like if anyone has recent experience of them.
Thanks

No idea on the schools but they have a lovely children’s swimming pool there.

Hi there Ham87, just wondering if you did any further research? Am asking similar questions. Seems to be good general feedback on Tenterden Infant School but would also love to know more. Also, where do kids out of catchment for Cranbrook Grammar go? Good luck with the move, it’s a beautiful part of the world.

Hi There
No we haven’t done any further research yet. I understand there is Homewood school in Tenterden and that some children travel to grammar schools in Maidstone and Ashford but I would like more information as well

Obviously most aren't commuting at the moment but if either or both of you need to commute to London then I wouldn't move to Tenterden but look further west into villages like Biddenden, Benenden, Sissinghurst etc as they're within easy reach of the relatively fast line from Staplehurst/Marden. If not commuting then Tenterden is lovely and very good value property price wise because it's out of easy commuting time

Thanks @snowballer don’t suppose you have any primary school knowledge of schools near Hawkhurst? I know Hawkhurst CEP - still forming my opinion. What are the other bearably closeby state primaries like? Hurst Green, Etchingham, Cranbrook, Sandhurst... getting a little worried and short of time.

I can't give an opinion on most of those schools I'm afraid as we're in a different village. Cranbrook primary I know has had problems in the past but is now definitely on the up.

I think grammar school students in Tenterden go to Ashford. Maidstone would be a bit of a journey for them.

I can't comment on schools as I'm not local but it's a lovely town I visit often. At one time I did think of loving there.

The steam railway does some great events. Halloween, Xmas and they also do a 1940's weekend which is really good.

A friends child is at St Michaels primary and so far so good. A class of c20 and one form entry so a small school.

Wittershamschool · 20/09/2020 19:09

I'm in my early 30s so obviously it was some time ago but I went to Wittersham Primary School and then Highworth Grammar School in Ashford

I had friends at Tenterden Infant and Juniors. I thought our primary was great

Family still live in the area - pm me if any questions! Agree the pool is lovely
