Dc P1: What does he need?

Hi so I feel a bit silly writing this. We are due to move to a new town, my Dc is due to begin Primary 1. Because of the timing we never got to visit primary school so my questions are left unanswered.

What does my dc "need"? Obviously I know about school uniforms/PE clothing, bag and lunch box. This might sound stupid but does he need a pencil case, pencils rubber, sharpener etc?

Anything else I've forgotten?

Hi OP, in my experience the only thing they need at that age other than uniform is a water bottle - they are not allowed to bring their own pencil cases, stationary etc.

In my son's school they had to use a specific type of book bag in their first year due to limited storage space.

At the moment however no child in my son's school is allowed to take anything to school (no bag, no pe kit, no books) due to COVID rules.

I'd recommend emailing the school office and just checking the rules/expectations with them, as it varies by school at the best of times, and is different at the moment

Hi thanks for replying Smile. I'll email them today to see what the situation is. Are you in Scotland?

No, I'm not, my experience is only subjective but as I say it totally differs school to school so I think only they (or other local parents) can tell you.
Have you searched to see if there's a school or class Facebook group? They're brilliant for answering questions like this, which I'm sure you'll have plenty more of as time goes on!
