We have been placed on the waiting list for an in year transfer for September. We are 0.7 miles away in the catchment area. Will it worth an appeal?

You would need to provide a little more information. What year group are you appealing for? KS2 is easier than KS1 or Reception. What are the grounds for your appeal? I'm not happy isn't enough, there need to be valid reasons too.

It is from y1 to y2.

Safeguarding concerns at current school (these have been raised and ignored) low results along with a recent damning Ofsted report. Poor behaviour which increases come y3. (Older child will be going to secondary, so is leaving)
Apart from these the new school will help develop local friendships, better security and standards, better standards of education.

When you appeal, you don't appeal against a school, you appeal for a school. As you are looking at an infant class size appeal, there are limited grounds on which an appeal can be won. these being:-

1 Admissions criteria were incorrectly applied which denied your child a place which is unlikely in an in year admission.
2 The decision was unreasonable (again the bar here is very high. Think along the lines of your child is disabled in some way and the offered school has many stairs which the appealed for school does not).

You won't win an appeal because you don't like your current school. If if was really that bad, then you would accept a move to any school, not just the one you want.

As the previous poster says, unfortunately none of those points are grounds for an appeal. Do you know where you are on the waiting list? You may just need to sit tight and wait.
