My daughter is in Year 1, and is seemingly struggling with selecting the correct diagraph when spelling simple words. E.g. she might write “choo” instead of “chew”.
I am trying to work so hard with her, but I was wondering if anyone could offer any insight into the extent to which this is “normal”, and if anyone has any tips for helping a child to know which diagraph to use. This morning, we did the “er” sound and it’s 5 different iterations 
Is it just a case of learning to remember?!
