Is it ok to send in a box of chocolates for staff to share, or is that a big No under the current circumstances (contamination potential from multiple people touching the box)?

I think it's a lovely idea but I guess it would be a possible contaminant. It is hard to think of possible things to send.

Definitely send in an email to the HT thanking all the staff.

I sent in a multi pack of glue sticks. It was the last day of term here today (NI). Speaking from experience it is much more useful than another box of chocs/biscuits/bottle of wine (delete as appropriate)

Our school have requested no gifts.. still going to give DDs one to one, one though

I don't think teachers will share food.

I've messaged the school (I know I could have done that originally, but I wanted to avoid asking permission to give them a gift, which kind of removes something from the gesture!).
They said it's fine Smile

I think if they're individually wrapped eg quality street that would be doable to spread them out on a table and people can pick one. A box of milk tray, possibly not.

Absolutely! We’ve had lots of lovely gifts from parents over the last few weeks for the staff room - cakes, chocolates, pizza etc. Very well received. The risk of contamination is minuscule.

We are still sharing food in the staff room. Someone brought in cookies as it was their birthday, staff were piling in as usual, all gone by 10am!
