New End primary, Fitzjohn Avenue or Abacus Belsize primary school? Fitzjohn

Hello,
I am trying to decide between New End Primary Fitzjohn Avenue or Abacus Belsize primary schools.
I would be interested to hear from someone who has currently children at any of these school to find out more about the teachers.
Just trying to find out whether the standards and levels of the teachers are consistent (rather than one good and 10 mediocre).
It would also be very helpful to know if the children are happy to go to school everyday and if the school staff are responsive.

I heard New End is closing owing to fall in pupil numbers?? Friend's daughter goes to Abacus and she is doing well.

New End isn't closing AFAIK, there have been rumours but the main threat to New End is in fact Abacus and the endless saga of the old police station site.

I'm afraid I have no personal experience to offer, but both New End and Fitzjohns are well-regarded locally. Fitzjohns used to have one of the smallest catchments in Camden, not sure what it's like nowadays.

If all else is equal, there's a lot to be said for going with the school closest to where you live. Being within a few minutes' walk from all your child's friends and from the school itself is a great bonus for the children and for you when they forget their PE kit and have to run home for it.

The problem with Abacus is that, for all the vocal protestations of the parent community there, the planning dispute is still raging, so you'd have to be prepared to put your child on the bus to Kings Cross for the foreseeable future.
