Which school ?

Hi, I wondered if anyone else is in a similar situation and if so, what you're planning to do! We were due to move to Stratford upon Avon this summer with a view to moving our child to either The Croft or Stratford Preparatory School. We were due to visit both in March however the visits were obviously cancelled due to the school closures. We don't want to lose the buyers for our house so can move to rented over next few weeks over in Stratford, with a view to her starting in Sept, however it feels wrong to move her to a new school we've not even visited yet - going only on recommendations. Has anyone else been in this position? My gut says don't move house, wait until schools are more settled, get a good feel for the schools and make the decision on this, not the sale of the house. But then maybe we wouldn't sell the house second time around ... arrggghhh!

Personally I would go ahead with the move and not risk losing your buyers, but I appreciate it's difficult. I think a lot of the feel you get is based on the staff, particularly the head. Is there any chance you can talk to them?

Hi thanks for your reply - yes I'm pretty sure I'll be able to speak to the Heads, maybe even arrange a walk around of the schools just to see the facilities and get a feel for the space etc. Would have just been nice to have seen the kids etc. I don't suppose anyone has an opinion on either of the schools , The Croft or Stratford Prep in Stratford upon Avon?

If you post again with the names of the schools in the title you will have more chance of getting some responses. I would do it because I think house prices are likely to collapse, selling and renting could turn out to be a very smart move.

I used to live in Stratford years ago. If I am remembering correctly The Croft Sch isn't actually in the town but a village outside. Whether this would make a difference to your school run. Traffic at school run times in Stratford can be terrible. It may be worth thinking about that.

Hi thanks for this and yes you're right , S.Prep is in the heart of the town , The Croft is just out, nr Alveston.
The house we're (potentially) moving to is also in the old town of Stratford so for me, that's a major plus point already for the more central school!
