11 weeks half-days. Update

My original message seems to have got lost but it was a whinge about my DS#1 having 11 weeks half days when he started school. Anyway....we had a letter yesterday telling us that from 01/10 they will all be doing mornings, then a week of mornings and lunch, and then the holy grail of full time the week after that for all pupils that are ready for it. All pupils to be full time by November (unless they still have problems). So basically back to the old timetable. Hoo bloody ray!

Apparently it's because the children are all settling in sooo well . What on earth made the assume that they wouldn't? But I have a feeling that the new (temporary) HT bowed to pressure from various parents who were as hacked off with it as I was, or he simply saw common sense.

Hi Orm . Is this the norm??
When dd started school (at 4yrs 6 months) she was straight onto full days - 9am to 3.30pm.

Gosh. DD (4 in July) is mornings only...... until Easter. She keeps asking why she has to come away at 11.50, when she loves school so much???

Easter feels like a long long time away!

Hi oggs!

It does seem to be the nrrm in this LEA. I was expected 6 weeks but was totally caught out when I actually read the letter they gave us and realised it didn't finish until 19th Nov!! DS#2 is about the same age as your DD was. So perfectly capable or managing...but I must admit I've enjoyed the last few weeks inspite of the hassle factor. Very gentle start ...but enough is enough and I will be glad to see the end now.

notalert - Easter? For crying out loud? What a shame if she's enjoying it.
