Great Online School Platforms

Hi all,

Does anyone have experience of using a good online platform to document learning, progress and/or homework through their school?

I'm a teacher and looking into some good ideas for how to make accessing anything related to your child's school as easy as possible for parents. Any experiences you have had would be really useful: user-friendly apps, school websites, online learning platforms, homework setting, newsletters. And is there anywhere you have seen where everything is in one place?

Also, what works well for you as a parent? What should a school prioritize in terms of online parent/teacher engagement. Thanks!

Interactive learning has been really useful. My oldest (secondary) has been using microsoft teams but my ds (secondary) and dds (primary) have been using skype and google classroom which works well. It helps keep them focused and helps them understand the work better than if they were left to their own devices with just a powerpoint, for example. I know other schools have been using Loom, where the teacher records the lesson in advance, and that seems to work also.

sorry, I realise that doesn't completely answer your question. They use the interactive platform to work through the lesson, and then I/They email the work into the teachers for it to be marked. If they are using google classroom, they submit the work through this.

I was more thinking about when lessons happen in "the normal times" for how to keep parents engaged in supporting the learning that is happening in the classroom. I am acutely aware that it is really hard for many parents (for example, working parents) to take part in open day events, "book looks" in the classroom etc. Also, just general contact about news, homework and supporting concepts taught in the classroom.

ah ok. My ds's school uses frog during normal school time and that allows parental engagement.
