Hi, I'm looking at Reception places for September 2021.
Schools that I have heard of are
St Peter's Eaton Square
Burdett Coutts
Millbank
Pimlico Primary
Does anyone have any recommendations/suggestions?
TIA Smile

Also look at St Matthews. Fantastic head!

We looked at all those schools and really liked Millbank. It's Outstanding and has loads of brilliant outdoor space which was important for us. It's in the same trust as Pimlico which was our safety school. Didn't like it at the time as it felt cramped inside, even if though it was only half full back then (3 years ago).

Absolutely loathed At Peter's Eaton Sq. when we visited. Everyone locally told us it was THE school to try and get into (even though we were very long shot due to their criteria). Hated it though. Very religious school (C of E but it's much more at the heart of the school than others we saw) and we're not religious. Local stern Vicar took a clear dislike Tonia at open evening. Also outdoor space was miniscule.

Never visited Burdett Courts as they kept saying to wait for open day which was then less than a week before admissions deadline.

I liked St Matthews ok but knew little about it and didn't love the Early years setup. Also faith school.

However, in spite of all the above we went with Marlborough Primary School in Kensington & Chelsea. Huge catchment so got in easily. DS1 is in year 2 now and we've loved it. DS2 is starting in September. New building is fantastic and culture of the school suits us.

It really will all depend on what you're looking for though. You'll need to visit and just get a feel for them.

@Ronia is Marlborough easy to get into? I’ve always thought it looked nice but it’s a little bit out of the way for us. Wondering if it’s worth the journey.

@user1480880826 yeah. We live in Westminster bit go there. I know a lot of families live in Battersea and out towards Fulham. The catchment is pretty vast.

think Millbank and St Peter's were both outstanding a very long time back - Millbank has had lots of different Heads so would be careful...

Thanks everyone.

I am due to look at school this year. However, due to the current situation I may be applying blind!

St Matthews is a lovely school. I can highly recommend.
They are small but don't let that put you off.

I would recomend Millbank. It's a really big site and the staff are great. Book a tour at a couple of schools and get a feel for them yourself, though - it's a personal choice and important to get right.

Yes I was actually really surprised by Millbank Academy. Didn’t realise what an amazing large site they have. Nursery and Reception classrooms were lovely and I got a nice feel for the staff. Worth a look. Lots of schools to choose from though.

I have been asking people I know because time is running out for getting applications in for Reception 2021. We have to apply by middle of Jan! Frightening. Just heard St Peters Eaton Square headmaster is going already but he only started in September. Think Millbank Head only started in September too. And same at Burdet Coutts. Researching other mums I meet it seems best schools are St Gabriel's and St Matthew's - mainly because of great Heads and good staff. And thats what matters most - to me at least! Fingers crossed
