Can anyone recommend a French workbook for this age range, just starting out with French. The school textbook is dire and I'd like to get them something to work through in the summer.

There isn't all that much though we've just bought the CGP book which my Y4 is enjoying. It looks as though the Y3-4 book and the Y5-6 books are similar content but harder things in the latter so it's not that one progresses to the other. CGP is also about to have year group workbooks - I'll probably try those when they are available.

My DS is doing another language on Rosetta Stone which has pictures, so preferable for this age range I feel! It normally costs but is free at the moment.

I bought Tricole for my Y4 and Y6 to work on French with them for this reason - the primary books seem useless! We're spending a bit longer on each page than they would in Y7, I imagine, but it seems a bit more to the point.

We only just got it though.
