Hi all,

I looked around The Beacon School in Amersham and really liked it. I wonder if there are any parents here with little one's who go to The Beacon School who could tell me first hand their opinions please?

Thank you!

@Wellbeingmum the live online lessons during lockdown were good. It depends what you want after YR6 or YR8. School is trying to gravitate away from grammars and you can see that in the leaver destination numbers. Not a lot of choice for boys in the area afterwards. Grammar schools, Berkhamsted, Merchant Taylors or boarding. That's pretty much it depending on where you're based and can travel to. Class sizes are 20 at The Beacon. Sport is roughly 5 hours a week or so and if your son doesn't like it then it can be tough to do main sports like rugby and football for the entire term. New swimming pool with the roof on is good. It's all of course very different now under COVID restrictions.

A friend's son started there in the nursery and went all the way through. He completed Year 8 several years ago and went on to one of the schools mentioned in the post above. I only ever heard extremely positive comments about the school from the family and he's a very pleasant, confident-but-not-overly-confident young person.
