Primary education in Colchester

Hi- we are moving to Colchester with my daughters 7 + 4. Looking at St Mary’s, Holmwood House and Colchester High as primaries so far. Has anyone got any positive or negative views on either? Or any other local private primaries? Want somewhere academic but also lots of sport and the arts. We have ruled out Oxford House. Many many thanks!

I would go for st. Mary’s. The outside space is amazing at the lower school which lends itself to outside activities and sports. The school building has a nice homely feel.

The only thing potentially problematic is when you have one in primary and one in secondary if you don’t live close enough for the eldest to travel to and from school alone. Obviously if you go on to have a boy in the future you could end up with kids at different schools across the town and at times Colchester is a headache to travel across at certain times

Thanks so much! Definitely not having more than 2, so just girls for us. 😍
