Interviews for parents

We have a couple of assessment days coming up for DS1, who is 3. He will be assessed and there will also be separate interviews for the parents.

Finding it a weird enough concept that a 3 year old needs to be assessed to attend nursery (nursery connected to the private school he would therefore end up attending), but what are they going to be asking us as parents? I have no clue how to prepare...

Anyone have any experience of the kinds of things they might be asking us?

Is this Highgate? Parent interviews are largely just to check you can pay the fees. Unless it's The Hall in which case they want to check that you are the right sort. Friend who is a lawyer was asked why he wasn't a partner and when he hoped to make partner.

Thanks@waterbottle12 - it's neither of those schools. We are looking at schools near us, so currently Babington House, Breaside and Bickley Park.

I wondered if it could be a "right fit" sort of thing. Funnily enough, I am a lawyer...(better prepare my answer now - lol) I guess that works both ways though - is want them to be a good fit for us too. But hopefully they are not snooty about it. And if it's just about fees, then we'll be fine on that front tooSmile

@waterbottle12

Bloody hell! You couldn't pay me to send my DC to that school if they asked me that during my interview!

@waterbottle12 THIS IS CRAZY!! It sounds so much like the schools of Hong Kong where I am from.. Confused

Breaside is all about the money. They won't care if you are a drug dealer as long as you can pay. I would recommend Bickley or Babbington - definitely not Breaside. Good Luck.

I went to a private school from around the same age up to 16 and my folks had the same thing. Asking all sorts of prying questions to see if they were acceptable. This was in the early 90s so unfortunately I can’t advise what to say other than be honest and be yourselves. Assuming you wouldn’t be considering a placement if you couldn’t afford it etc. You will be fine.
Personally, I couldn’t go through that though.
