Habs 4+

Hi all - my DD got into Habs but not NLCS (which was our first preference).

We are thinking of whether to send her to Habs or not as its quite far away from where we are. Alternative would be an independent school closer to us which is more relaxed & non-selective.

Habs doesnt do coaches, but how do others cope, apart from the obvious of parents driving?

I have also read messages in this board about Habs and lack of pastoral care, too much pressure on girls, being critical with grades etc. I havent read such -ve messages on NLCS but know its even more competitive (perhaps is a more different and +ve way).

Would appreciate views from moms of Habs girls who are currently there or who have experience of both NLCS/Habs.

Thanks all for your replies in advance! Very difficult times.

It might be specific to your location but Habs does run coaches once pupils reach Year 3.

I believe 'pressure' at habs must be all senior school - certainly upto yr6 they seem to be following a 'learn through play' curriculum -even in yr6 homework is only 3 nights a week and supposed to be

@confusedmom007 take the place. It is the most amazing school, genuinely pastoral and nurturing, really into resilience etc. People do rotas until year three and then go on the bus. Your fourth paragraph applies much more to NLCS than habs.

Take the place. It will be so much harder to get in at 11+

@waterbottle12 100% agree to what you have said and second that recommendation
